Annual Clinical Performance Measures (CPM) Project

ABSTRACT
The CPM project was initiated by CMS in 1994
and includes annual data collection by ESRD Networks. The CPM patient sample is
based on a statistical sample size that is representative of each Network. The
sample is randomly selected by CMS and includes 100% of the pediatric and
Veterans Health Administration ESRD patient population. Clinical data is
collected for adequacy of dialysis, anemia management, nutrition, and vascular
access. The CPM results are reviewed with the MRB and reflected in the Detail
Plan for Clinical Indicators. In addition to the CPM project, the Lab Data
Collection Project which reflect clinical outcomes from the 4th
quarter of the previous calendar year is a 100% sampling of all participating
facilities which allows the Network to specifically identify areas to improve
and allows the Network to develop focused interventions for facilities based on
their specific needs.
